Design Projects
Impassioned, creative, hard-working, over 18 years of experience, and a user-centered design ethic. Highly organized visual communicator with a love of fast-paced environments and innovation.
I’m Kendal Johnson (also known as Nathan), a designer currently living in the Greater Seattle, Washington, area. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and moved to the states for my higher education and career. I started my career in visual design over 18 years ago and have shared my experience with many students while teaching as a college instructor. Over the last 5 years I’ve worked in game development through professional experience and a graduate degree. I enjoy working with a team of cross-disciplinary individuals in the creation of amazing projects. My true passion resides in creating high-quality user-centered experiences.
Through experience and education I’ve forged expert competency in media interface design and game development. I’ve managed both small teams and classrooms of about 20 students. My broad history in design, coding, and art has allowed me to develop skills in effectively communicating with team members of varying disciplines.
This mobile game prototype takes players through a dark obstacle course while they attempt to gather molecular gates scattered throughout the nebula. The UI/UX design required simplicity while maintaining a proper amount of information. Though not all elements of UI/UX design for this project have been completed (such as mission progress), this sample clearly illustrates the UI/UX direction of the project.
